“A Celebration of Family and Local History”

Program will begin with the donation of the Friesch Family Bible to CHS. This heirloom preserves Conrad Friesch’s account of his escape from Napolean’s Army. His widow, Barbara, brought it with her when she came to Concord in the late 1840s. In 2019, the Friesch Family were the recipients of our Town Heritage Award. Chris Nowak, descendant of Clara Friesch and Albert Baneck, will be presenting the Bible, and will stay for a round-table discussion of local history. Chris’ mother, Janneyne Longley Gnacinski, and her grandmother, Louise Baneck Longley, were the authors of Sullivan, Town 6 North. This is an opportunity to recognize Janneyne’s many contributions to genealogy and local history; and to learn more about doing history at the grassroots. Carl Friesch will have on display a broom his great-grandfather, Daniel Friesch, hand-carved in 1888. This one-of-a-kind heirloom was made out of a piece of four foot long, knot-free, straight-grained, green hickory!

Museum & Log Cabin also open by appointment, please email: info@concordwihistory.org
